Martha The Last Passenger Pigeon

Here is my other extinct bird exhibited at The Hudgens Center for Arts and Learning. “Martha”, the last Passenger Pigeon, died in the Cincinnati Zoo in 1914. This used to be one of the most numerous birds in North America, which would darken the sky in flight. Sadly, they were hunted for food while we cleared their wooded habitat and nesting grounds. Also, infectious disease played a role in their extinction. “Three Billion” focuses on these problems and what we can do to help birds today hopefully avoid the passenger pigeon’s demise.
