A Watchful Eye

These miniature American Advocets tell a charming story. The mother is trying to catch some rest as her young are still foraging nearby. I carved, sanded, and then, dyed curly maple wood blue to give the impression of water. The fabricated metal grasses show that it is shallow enough for them though.
