Virginia Rail & Company

“Virginia Rail & Company” tells the story of a secretive shorebird in its native habitat. Virginia rails are commonly found in freshwater and brackish marshes and wetlands as well as coastal salt marshes throughout North America. I wanted to illustrate the connection of life in vital habitats for wildlife and water restoration in this original first place winning woodcarving and wildlife sculpture. Consequently, I fabricated different marsh grasses from metal and carved a dragonfly as well as a beetle. Dragonflies are a symbol for change and transformation. Seeing one is a reminder to shed more light and joy in your life. I hope my original artwork brings you joy as well.
