American Widgeon

I carved this American Widgeon from one piece of wood in a decorative decoy style (the base is optional). Although the bird was challenging to carve, it was fun to detail and texture every little feather and paint the drake’s beautiful plumage. While the male duck is notoriously aggressive, I tried to capture a sweeter side to his character too. It won first place and Best in Division/Show open/professional class at The Georgia National Fair in 2023.
